The THAI and the SIAM have the same roots. Although both breeds differed in appearance, they share the following common features and characteristics:
SIAM
Body:
The medium sized, elegant cat is slender and muscular. The body is elongated and lithe.
The rib cage and the shoulders are not wider than the hips. The legs are long and slender, the paws are dainty and oval.
THAI
Body:
The body is medium sized and muscular, yet slender and elegant, neither sturdy nor too long.
The legs are medium in length, with rounded paws.
SIAM
Tail:
The tail is very long, whippy, thin at the base and ends in a pointed tip.
THAI
Tail:
The tail is medium in length and slightly tapering.
SIAM
Head:
The head is wedge-shaped. The wedge starts at the nose and broadens on both sides in straight lines to the ears.
The nose is long and straight, the forehead is flat. The profile is slightly convex.
The muzzle is fine, with a strong chin, forming a vertical line with the tip of the nose.
THAI
Head:
The head is moderately wedge shaped with gently rounded contours.
The profile is slightly curved, with a gentle break at the eye level.
Chin and lower jaw are strong, the muzzle is rounded.
